2013 Class

This is the home page for the lecture notes for the 2013 edition of the Towson University course COSC 481, Case Studies in Computer Security and its partner course, COSC 745 Advanced Topics in Computer Security.

I am continuing to a WordPress blog this year because I want students to be able to comment on the notes. If, as you read these notes you find something confusing or if you know of a better way to do something, be sure to share it. This was we can all benefit.

Students should also follow the Security News updates on the main page. The security landscape changes rapidly, and I try to update that section with the latest news and exploits I find each week. I also use that section to point out particularly good tutorials and other learning opportunities.

This year’s class is the most popular it has ever been; in fact we added a number of new computers to the lab over the winter break just to accommodate the demand.

Best wishes to all on a good class!
